OK I LOOKED UP GADRIEL’S NAME TO FIND OUT WHAT THE BIBLE SAID AND HOLY SHIT ASDFGHJKL;
NO NOPE NAW
First of all, Gadriel isn’t mentioned in the Bible AT ALL. He’s mentioned in the Book of Enoch, especially Chapter 69:
And the name of the third is Gadreel; this is the one that showed all the deadly blows to the sons of men. And he led astray Eve. And he showed the weapons of death to the children of men, the shield and the breastplate, and the sword for slaughter, and all the weapons of death to the sons of men.
And from his hand they have gone out against those who dwell the dry ground from that time and forever and ever.
Second: Christianity doesn’t really replace him with Satan, it’s just that when the Bible was put together it was generally easier to go “okay, this shit is all these guys fault but I CBA writing that all out, let’s just blame this guy for it all”. This is actually quite common btw.
Third: Gadriel and another Angel (Jegon) were responsible for the fall of other angels and leading Eve astray. It is not Lucifer who does this which is what the Bible states (and what we’re led to believe in SPN). Now, if the writer’s are going to, instead work along this method, I think it seems more practical.
Fourth: When Lucifer says to Dean “we always end up here” I don’t think he actually means with him in Sam’s body. I think he means with the Apocalypse. With the fall of man. To death. As it is, Gadriel (in Enoch) provided humanity with the ability to destroy itself with “weapons of death”. Therefore the Apocalypse can still occur though it may not be started by Lucifer or demons but by good ol’ human stupidity.
This means that it’s perfectly logical that maybe, possibly, just on the off-chance, Dean has actually been ensuring the future he saw in 2014 will happen. If it was actually Gadriel in Sam’s body in 2014 then it could be argued that calling ‘Sam’ Lucifer in 2014 was because Dean didn’t know that it was actually Gadriel who was responsible. And it’s possible future!Dean and future!Cas didn’t know then either (the whole wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey thing strikes again in a new fandom!).
It can be argued that Dean may have created his own self-fulfilling prophecy and we’re just along for the ride because we can see this.
GOD DAMN IT
